This year's 26th Independence celebrations took place in conjunction with a Namibia Day activities comprising of Namibian Art Exhibition (some of the artworks are still available for viewing ..please contact the embassy for more information), informative Tourism Seminar and Cultural performances. On 24 March 2016, Ms. Sophia NANGOMBE, Ambassador of Namibia delivered Welcome Speech.  Mr. Masaaki Takei,Mayor of Minato City, was guest of honour and Mr. Manlio CADELO, Dean of Diplomatic Community in Tokyo, proposed a toast to Namibia. Dignitaies from Government of Japan, private Sector, Diplomatic Corps and Friends of Namibia attended the event. Namibia gained its independence on 21 March 1990.
