‘Geingob – Man of the Hour’ to air on Zambezi Magic
2016.03.18

MONDAY not only marks Namibia's 26th year of independence, it will also mark one year since President Hage Geingob took office to become Namibia's third democratically elected president.

To honour this milestone, Zambezi Magic (DStv Channel 160) will air the documentary 'Geingob - Man of the Hour' on Friday, 25 March at 20h30.
'Geingob - Man of the Hour' looks at the life of the President as a Namibian liberation hero. In the documentary, he takes his family back to the farm where he was born and talks of his life as a young boy living on a white-owned farm in then South West Africa.
It also describes how he escaped into exile to gain a better education, his journey as he became an active player in the fight for the freedom of Namibia and ultimately his return to his home country after more than 20 years in exile.
'Geingob - Man of the Hour' also illustrates the part Geingob played in Namibia's first ever democratic elections which took place in 1989 as well as his significant role in the drafting of the Namibian Constitution.
Some of the interviewees in the documentary film include Namibia's founding president Sam Nujoma, former president Hifikepunye Pohamba as well as Geingob's wife and now First Lady, Monica Geingos.
The documentary which was produced just after his overwhelming win in the national elections of 2014, also looks at the issues facing the country at the time just before his swearing in, including the sensitive issues around land distribution in Namibia.
